Only the Broadmobi BM818 modem is supported on production Librem 5 and Liberty models at this time. The SIMCom 7100A and SIMCom 7100E modems were standard equipment on the Librem 5 development kit and listed only for informational purposes.
All modems offer a degree of overlap of coverage in any region, reflected as supported coverage in the most important bands, but there may be gaps in coverage based on your geographical area. If purchasing a new device from the Librem 5 and Liberty Phone shop pages, choose the modem model that services the most appropriate region for your geographical area.
A unique feature of the Librem 5 and Liberty phone is that both the modem and SIM card is user-changeable. If purchasing an additional Librem 5 Modem in order to have expanded coverage for travel purposes, consider the frequencies as well as available cellular network carriers in your travel destination.
The Librem 5 will accept 4G LTE and 5G SIM cards, but are limited to the capabilities of the cellular modem installed. See below for details.

Notes¶
Not all bands may be available in your area. Refer to frequencycheck.com to determine which cellular bands are supported by your carrier in your country.
LTE will be unavailable to you if you require an LTE band that is not supported by your listed modem. Refer to cellmapper.net to determine which LTE bands are available from cell towers in your area.
Your cellular network carrier may inform you which LTE bands are supported in your area, but they may not necessarily be required to divulge this information.
Some carriers do not allow devices on their networks unless devices are manually approved by them.
