Setup#

Overview#

The Librem AweSIM SIM card will work in almost any device. Most Android and iOS devices will configure automatically. If they do not, use the Librem 5 settings below.

  1. Install the AweSIM SIM card.

  2. Configure the carrier settings.
    1. Add or select the APN:
      • Settings → Mobile → Access Point Names

    2. Set the “Network Mode” to “4G Only”:
      • Settings → Mobile → Network Mode

    3. Configure APN/MMSC/Proxy parameters within the Chats application.

  3. Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) to activate your AweSIM voice+data plan.

Warning

Be very careful with the SIM Lock option! Only proceed if you fully understand how this feature works.

It takes a couple business days to process a PIN unlock (PUK) request. Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) to request a PUK reset.

The default SIM card PIN is 1111. This PIN is associated with the SIM card and not any phone it is connected to.

Port an existing number to AweSIM#

To port a number from another carrier into Librem AweSIM:

  1. Receive the AweSIM SIM card

  2. Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) with the following information:

    1. Current carrier (T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.)

    2. Account owner name

    3. Account owner billing address

    4. Transfer Account Number

    5. Transfer PIN

Note

AT&T transfers require an additional step which will interrupt service for 1-2 days. Numbers must first be ported to a storage service and held inactive for at least 24 hours to clear ownership data. Upon request, Purism may activate a SIM with a temporary number to be superseded by the new number once available.

Voicemail#

Configuration#

  1. Dial your own number (or hold ‘1’ on Apple or Android devices).

  2. Follow the steps starting at step 2 as described in the AT&T voicemail setup procedure.

Reset password#

Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) to reset your voicemail password.

Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) to reset your voicemail account.

Warning

You will lose all voicemails in this process.

Call forwarding#

Librem AweSIM supports call forwarding but it must be manually enabled by the MVNE by request. Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) to enable or disable this service.

If enabling call forwarding, please provide:

  1. Identifying account information

  2. The 10-digit Librem AweSIM phone number you wish to foward from

  3. The 10-digit phone number(s) you wish to forward to

eSIM#

eSIM capabilities are supported on Librem AweSIM (though not on Librem 5 or Liberty devices) but is not enabled by default. Contact the Wireless Support department (wireless_support@puri.sm) to enable or disable this service.

If enabling eSIM service, please provide the following along with your request:

  1. SIM ICCID

  2. Device IMEI
