Known issues¶
This page lists known issues for the Chestnut shipment of phones as supplied to users.
Data¶
Wi-Fi does not always turn on upon bootup¶
Problem: Wi-Fi does not always start up correctly on boot even if it is enabled with the hardware switch.
Solution: Disabling and re-enabling Wi0Fi with the hardware killswitch should activate it.
Unable to receive a fixed GNSS location¶
Problem: The GNSS module is unable to reliably receive broadcasts from satellites, making it difficult to fix the location of the phone.
Description: This problem will be addressed in later revisions of the hardware, from Dogwood onwards.
Power¶
Rapid charging failure¶
Problem: When charging the phone using a charger, 12V negotiation and rapid charging can fail.
Description: This failure mode does not affect 5V charging over a USB type-C to USB type-A cable.
Solution: To help prevent this, follow these step to charge the phone:
Unplug the power adapter (wall wart) from the power outlet.
Plug one end of the USB-cable into the adapter and the other end into the phone.
Plug the adapter into the power outlet.
When unplugging:
Unplug the adapter from the power outlet first.
Unplug the USB-C cable from the phone.
Incorrectly labeled battery capacity¶
Problem: The battery installed in the phone is labelled with a capacity of 2000 mAh.
Description: This is a conservative estimate of the capacity. Later iterations of the phone should have higher capacity batteries.
Power/heat issues¶
Problem: Power management and heat issues are caused by various subsystems.
Description: The processor will be run more slowly to prevent overheating, affecting processing performance.
Device reboots if SIM inserted/removed while powered on¶
Problem: The phone may restart if you remove or insert the SIM card while it is powered.
Description: This is due to the type of SIM tray in use. Users should power off the phone before replacing SIM cards.
Rapid charging only works on certain chargers¶
Problem Rapid charging currently only works when using the charger supplied with the phone or a compatible USB C PD (power delivery) charger.
Rapid charging not working with certain USB cables¶
Problem: Rapid charging is currently not possible over a USB A to C cable.
Description: This is due to a software issue. (See BQ25895: Disable BC1.2 and Set IINLIM to Max Value).
