Configure cellular networks¶
Activate the SIM card¶
Activate the SIM card with your carrier.

Enable cellular networks¶
Ensure that a cellular modem is installed in the device and that the modem is appropriate for the geographic region in which it’s used.
Ensure that a SIM card is properly installed and enabled to enable calls, SMS messaging, MMS messaging and other cellular data services.
Ensure that the cellular modem hardware killswitch is in the enabled position, positioned away from the SIM slot.
Power on the device, unlock the encrypted disk, and log in if not already completed.
Launch the Settings application. One way to do this is to swipe down from the top of the screen to open the settings panel, then long press the Cellular icon.
In the Mobile section of the Settings application, ensure that the mobile network software switch in enabled the upper-right corner of the screen.
Note
If the cellular modem is disabled with either the hardware kill switch or with the software toggle switch, you will see the following page. Notice the
icon at the top-left of the screen:
Add a cellular access point¶
Open the Settings application
Tap Mobile
Under the Advanced section, tap Access point Names
- Is the access point name for your mobile carrier visible?
- YES
Tap the radio button to the left of your cellular network’s access point name
Proceed to the next step
- NO
Tap the + button at the upper-right portion of the screen
Enter a Name and APN for your carrier
Enter a Username and Password if required by your carrier
Tap Save at the upper-riht section of the screen
Tap the radio button to the left of your cellular network’s access point name
Proceed to the next step
Under the Network section, toggle the slider switch so that it is enabled
Cellular network data should now be enabled
